Republican congressional candidate David Richter has made a clean sweep of endorsements from countywide elected officials in Ocean County.

Freeholders Ginny Haines, Jack Kelly, Gerry Little, Gary Quinn and Joe Vicari, Sheriff Mike Mastronardy and County Clerk Scott Colabella announced today that they would support Richter for the GOP nomination to challenge Rep. Andy Kim in the 3rd district.

Haines and Quinn had previously endorsed Richter’s main rival, former Burlington County freeholder director Kate Gibbs.

Gibbs won a vote of the Ocean GOP screening committee, but most of her supporters have jumped to Richter after the former Hill International CEO won an upset victory at the Ocean County Republican convention last week.

“David is the best candidate to defeat Andy Kim and deliver the results that the residents of Ocean County and the entire Third District deserve,” said Haines, who is also the Republican National Committeewoman from New Jersey.  “Over the last few months, David has been a fixture at events throughout Ocean County and we have gotten to know him well.”

Ocean County GOP chairman Frank Holman III endorsed Richter after his convention win.

The eighth county elected official,  Ocean County Surrogate Jeff Moran, does not endorse because he holds a judicial post.
