HAINESPORT, NJ – June 19, 2020 – David Richter, Republican candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s Third District, announced today that he has received the endorsement of Hainesport Township Mayor Bruce MacLachlan.
Said MacLachlan, “I have served as Mayor for four terms. Fifteen years in office as of now. I have been involved in 10 campaigns. I consider myself a loyal party-line Republican. As we get bombarded by negative ads about a candidate (usually from unnamed sources) one asks the inevitable question, ‘Is this true?’ If the story gets repeated enough times, we eventually grow to accept the positions we are being exposed to. What happens when we realize we are being manipulated with untruths? There has been an attempt to skew our thought process about David Richter each time we look at the media his opposition sends our way. Everyone knows David has come to the race late. That has not diminished his credentials. Some Republicans have been reluctant to offer David their support due to that issue alone even though they now know deep inside only he can beat Andy Kim this fall.”
“I have been self-employed my entire life, I have never asked my customers what their political or religious beliefs are before we do business and I hope they never ask mine. When one manages a mega-business as David has, employing thousands of employees, with relationships that cross many national boundaries and political persuasions, I am sure David has encountered every race, religion, and political persuasion. David’s opposition wants us to believe that he is a poor candidate because his father invested in a company that Joe Biden’s brother worked for and I just can’t see the connection as to how that impacts how David will represent us in Congress. I resent that comparison, especially in these times, when we need to learn to all get along with each other and reach across boundaries as David has done his whole life. What I am seeing is David’s character and experience shine through each time he speaks. For this reason, I am now speaking up myself.”
“Hainesport government has remained all Republican for almost 20 years in a changing political landscape due to choosing what I believe are the best qualified candidates to represent our residents and delivering a way of life voters desire. With that success behind past efforts and guiding my decisions, I feel David’s resume of law, engineering, and managing mega-projects that have improved the lives of people of every race and religion all over the world uniquely qualifies him to be our Republican congressional candidate. Google David Richter for yourself and I think you will also realize that David is the only candidate that will beat Andy Kim this fall. I endorse David Richter for Congress.”
“Hainesport is a Republican stronghold, thanks in large part to the outstanding leadership of Mayor MacLachlan and the other members of the Township Committee. I very much appreciate his endorsement and it only adds to the momentum our campaign is building as we get closer to Election Day,” said Richter.
Richter is the former CEO of global construction management firm Hill International. During his time at the company, Hill grew from a struggling family business with less than 300 employees into a successful public company with more than 4,300 employees. A lifelong Republican, Richter grew up in and has spent most of his life living and working in the Third District. He earned two bachelor’s degrees and a law degree from Penn as well as master’s degrees from Oxford and Harvard. Richter and his wife Michelle, who have been married for 20 years, are the parents of four daughters.
